Celebrating Wellington's diversity

Over the last three years, I have been so lucky to meet mothers from a range of cultures. I love hearing how different communities approach motherhood, and what we keep from our backgrounds when we become mothers – and what we leave behind.

This month – in honour of Mother’s Day – I am launching a new photographic project celebrating mothers and the diverse cultures in Wellington. 

I am looking for mothers from different cultures who are willing to come into my studio dressed in traditional clothing for a portrait session with their children. As part of this model call, we would talk about your experience as a mother, what traditions you are continuing in your role as a mother and anything you might be doing differently as a mother in New Zealand. Children can be between 4 months old and 16 years old.

What will you receive for participating?

For participating in this project, you will receive a 11x14 print of your choice from the session and the corresponding high resolution digital file.
